About Global Holiday Tracker
Global Holiday Tracker is a free, browser-based calendar and countdown tool that aggregates official public holidays from more than 100 countries into a single, unified view. Whether you are an HR director managing a distributed workforce, an e-commerce seller planning seasonal promotions, or an international traveler mapping out your next adventure, knowing the exact dates of public holidays worldwide is critical. We built this tool to make that information instantly accessible, beautifully presented, and actionable — all without registration or fees.
Why Global Holiday Awareness Matters
The modern economy is deeply interconnected. A software development team might span five countries across three continents. A retail brand might ship products to customers in Japan, Germany, Brazil, and South Africa — all on the same day. In this environment, missing a public holiday can mean a failed delivery, an unresponsive support channel, a campaign that falls flat, or a payroll error. The consequences range from minor inconveniences to significant financial losses and damaged customer relationships.
Consider a simple example: a U.S.-based e-commerce company launching a flash sale on Golden Week in Japan without realizing that millions of Japanese shoppers are traveling and less likely to be browsing. Or an HR manager scheduling mandatory training on a bank holiday in Germany. These are the kinds of oversights that Global Holiday Tracker is designed to prevent. By surfacing holiday data from every major region in real time, we help teams make better decisions every day.
What We Offer
- Multi-Country Holiday View: Select up to six countries simultaneously and see all their holidays merged into a single color-coded list. Each country is assigned a distinct color so you can identify holidays at a glance. This is particularly valuable for teams operating across multiple regions who need a consolidated planning view.
- Live Countdown Timers: Every upcoming holiday displays a live countdown in days, hours, minutes, and seconds. The featured holiday at the top of the page counts down to the nearest approaching holiday across all your selected countries, keeping the most time-sensitive information front and center.
- Interactive Monthly Calendar: Our calendar view shows the current month with holiday markers for every selected country. Navigate forward or backward by month, click on any date to see full holiday details, and use the color-coded legend to identify which country each holiday belongs to.
- E-commerce Events Tracker: Beyond official public holidays, we track major commercial shopping events — Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Singles Day (11.11), Amazon Prime Day, Diwali, Lunar New Year shopping season, and more. These are displayed with an amber badge to distinguish them from official public holidays, and they appear in the dedicated sidebar for quick reference.
- .ics Calendar Export: Download any individual holiday or your entire multi-country holiday list as an industry-standard .ics file. These files import directly into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and virtually every other calendar application. Once imported, your holidays become part of your existing workflow without any manual entry.
- 8 Language Support: The full interface is available in English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Spanish, German, French, and Portuguese. Switch languages instantly using the language picker in the header. Holiday names are displayed in English alongside any local-language names provided by the API.
Our Data Source
Public holiday data is sourced exclusively from the Nager.Date API, a well-maintained, open-source public holiday database covering more than 100 countries. Nager.Date aggregates data from official government publications, national calendars, and legislative records, making it one of the most reliable free sources for international holiday information available. The API is queried in real time (with session-level caching for performance), so data is always current for the selected year.
E-commerce event dates are curated and maintained manually by our team. Because commercial shopping events like Amazon Prime Day or Flipkart Big Billion Days do not follow a fixed annual schedule, their dates are approximate and subject to change. We update these dates as soon as confirmed information becomes available each year.
Who Uses Global Holiday Tracker
- HR and People Operations Teams: HR professionals at multinational companies use Global Holiday Tracker to verify holiday entitlements, schedule company-wide meetings that avoid regional holidays, plan hiring timelines, and ensure payroll systems account for statutory non-working days in every jurisdiction where the company operates.
- E-commerce and Retail Businesses: Online sellers and retail operators use the tool to plan inventory restocking before holiday-driven demand spikes, schedule promotional campaigns to coincide with high-spending periods, time marketing email sends to avoid low-engagement holiday windows, and coordinate logistics around shipping deadlines.
- Digital Marketers and Content Teams: Marketing teams use the calendar to plan editorial content calendars, social media campaigns, and paid advertising schedules. Aligning content with local holidays and cultural moments significantly increases relevance and engagement in target markets.
- International Travelers and Expats: Travelers use Global Holiday Tracker to avoid travel during peak holiday periods when transport is crowded and prices are elevated, or conversely to experience local festivals and celebrations. Expats working abroad use it to keep track of holidays in both their home country and current country of residence.
- Project Managers and Operations Leaders: Project managers at global companies use the tool to build project timelines that realistically account for non-working days across all affected countries, preventing over-optimistic scheduling that assumes full team availability throughout the year.
- Educators and Students: Teachers and students studying international business, geography, or cultural studies use the tool as a reference for understanding how different societies mark significant dates and the economic and social implications of those observances.
